I had the honor of being a bridesmaid at dad’s wedding this weekend at a cute bed and breakfast called Winterbourne in Orange Park, FL. It was a lovely place right on the river with huge, sprawling oak trees and a refreshing breeze. The prenuptial dinner was at Buca di Beppo’s - boy, was that a weird place (especially that table with the Pope’s head, what?), but the food (namely the cheesecake) was good. I met some friends of Dad’s and Laurie’s (his bride), and I caught up with a lot of family that I haven’t seen in many years.
I had my reservations about being there, and things still feel awkward at best, but I know this is a growing experience - one that I had to have in order to move on to a new chapter. I know situations change people and vise versa, but sometimes it’s really hard to let go when the effects are so deeply rooted. I want to thank my family for being so supportive during this time. I appreciated it, even though I was bawling my eyes out the whole time.
Congrats, dad! May your new beginning be filled with trust, love, and the pursuit of happiness!
